Dissident sustains prolific stud record

Riverdene Stud resident stallion Dissident finished another prolific racing season with 86 individual winners in 2023/24 and progeny earnings in excess of $4.5 million over the 12 months period.

Dissident’s number of individual winners saw the stallion sustain his remarkable level of consistency following three previous seasons of similar results.

In terms of number of winners, Dissident had been responsible a total 90 in 2022/23, 89 in 2021/22 and 77 in 2020/21, with progeny earnings of $5.6 million, $5.3 million and $4.2 million for those corresponding seasons.

Prolific Riverdene sire Dissident

Highest earner for Dissident last season proved to be the Laurel Oak Bloodstock-raced and Kim Waugh-trained Shadows of Love. The multiple stakes-placed racemare won four races, and ran third in the $1 million Provincial-Midway Championship, Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown and Group 3 Scone Dark Jewel, for seasonal earnings of $482,950.

Other highlights for Dissident in recent time have been the emergence of Voyage Samurai in Hong Kong where the gelding’s three wins have yielded connections the equivalent of $627,741, and the continued stakes winning exploits of Diss Is Dramatic in New Zealand  where she won the Group 2 BOP RC Japan Trophy in March.

Associate Riverdene Stud sire Sizzling, too, enjoyed another productive season in 2023/24. The Group 1 winning son of Snitzel was responsible for 34 individual winners and $1.9 million in progeny earnings with his standout performers including recent Sydney Highway winner Herb — a three -time winner of $150,775 over the 12-month period.

Notably, Sizzling also sired the $250,000 Pinjarra 2YO Magic Millions winner and Group 3 WA Sires placegetter Big Shots in the season just concluded.
