Headline horse for Dissident in Hong Kong

Riverdene Stud sire Dissident has a headline horse racing in Hong Kong and building an imposing record under the guidance of leading trainer Frankie Lor. Voyage Samurai, a 5-year-old gelding formerly named Dissox, has now won four of his seven starts, finishing runner-up in his only other three outings. All of his starts to date have taken place at Sha Tin.

Voyage Samurai’s latest victory saw him score over 1600m as the 9/5 favourite. His formline now reads 1212121 — having commenced his HKJC career with a debut victory over 1400m in February of this year.

Dissident is sire of Voyage Samurai

Before leaving for Hong Kong, Voyage Samurai won a barrier trial over 845m at Wyong by more than five lengths. He was named Dissox at the time and trained by Adam Duggan at Gosford, and was ridden on that occasion by Rachel King.

Now, Voyage Samurai is rapidly making his way through the Classes in Hong Kong, his HKJC rating figure having risen from 52 on debut to 76 with his latest success.

Voyage Samurai is the fourth foal of Love Commands, a winning daughter of Commands. The Dissident gelding is a half-brother to the multiple stakes winning mare Sky Command and hails from the family of Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) winner Sky Cuddle.
